No, not winning the lottery – that is quite unlikely.
Becoming disabled.
That can happen to anyone. No ticket required and no age restrictions.
There was a time when I had no idea about the importance of lowered kerbs.
There was a time when I had no idea about the need for ramped access.
There was a time when I would not have thought about the width of a doorway.
There was a time when I had no idea about the importance of accessible toilets.
Why would I have known? I didn’t need them.
Maybe if I had known a decade ago, I might have done something then.
I wish I had.
You still have time.
And now you know.
So you have a chance to improve things before you need them.
If you could no longer stand up, just how would you use the toilet?
Should you just stay at home?
Should you accept that you don’t matter?
It could be you.
So don’t wait.
Help to raise these issues now.
Don’t wait till you need them.
If you wait till you need them you might wish you hadn’t.
That is so true. Are we not all just one bad accident, one vicious illness, or just a twist of fate away from being in that predicament?

We are.
“The disabled” is the largest minority group of which any one of us can become a member at any time.

This is frighteningly true. Good luck with your campaigning. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Thank you. There is a petition for these facilities. It is in my “No Go Britain” post. Sharing the petition is also a big help. Sorry, I am using my phone and pasting links isn’t easy on it. Not moved into the modern age of the Iphone yet!
